Rooted in Agriculture
ROOTED IN
AGRICULTURE.

We offer training and technical support to teach communities the best practices for soil, water and crop management.

OUR GOAL

Promote the short- and long-term viability of Connecticut’s agricultural operations, lands, and food systems.

CT RC&D provides outreach, training, and technical support that empowers farmers to adopt best practices in soil, water, and crop management. Our agricultural programs promote innovative practices that increase productivity, economic viability, sustainability, and resiliency.

Strategies

We have many strategies to achieve agricultural viability in Connecticut.

Leverage CT RC&D’s strength in collaboration to develop partnerships that promote sustainable practices, improve soil health, and ensure long-term agricultural land viability and productivity.

Provide targeted outreach, training, and technical support on best management practices. Empower farmers, landowners, and agriculture-adjacent small businesses with science-based resources.

Encourage the adoption of practices such as regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, soil health, and reduction of reliance on the energy grid by showcasing how these approaches can sustain farmland viability and enhance productivity.

Create, expand, and share programs that help new and existing farmers access land, funding, services, expertise, and resources.

Pursue opportunities that allow CT RC&D to provide grant funding directly to farms.

Act as a leader through CT RC&D programs, such as the CT Farm Energy Program, CT Soil Health Initiative, and FarmUP, with a continued focus on Connecticut’s Farmer Veterans. Pursue new partnerships and funding to expand initiatives.
