Worthington Vineyards & Winery Goes Green

Worthington Vineyards & Winery in Somers, CT, is harnessing solar energy to help power its farm operation with the installation of a new 33.15-kilowatt rooftop solar photovoltaic system. The system is expected to offset approximately 18.5 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to the annual electricity use of about 5.9 homes. Support for the project was provided through CT RC&D’s Connecticut Farm Energy Program and USDA Rural Development’s Rural Energy for America Program. Solar Environment LLC installed the system.
